More improvement needed after Nürburgring round

The Nürburgring was the host of the fourth round of the Formula BMW Europe last weekend, but while the weather was a little warmer than at Silverstone, David Mengesdorf’s fortunes only slightly improved. The young German did emerge though as his country’s best representative on Saturday, finishing the race 7th after qualifying 8th.

At the start he immediately got the better of Frijns but the Dutch rookie regained his position on lap 4. “I maintained a good pace and followed the group in front and then took advantage of a mistake by Juncadella to snatch 7th on the fifth lap”.

Drivers woke up to a rain soaked track on Sunday morning. “ The race was started behind the safety car,” commented the Gravity hot shoe. “I was 6th on lap 4 before Gegalia passed me and then a little later, Manzur and I had a coming together which put me down to 14th. I moved back up to 10 and that’s where I finished. I must admit I’m disappointed with my home race weekend. We must now work hard to improve our performance for Budapest in two weeks.”
